After counselling and lecturing thousands of couples in workshops and seminars, the author Patrick McNally would quip that he would write a book entitled "How Men Stuff Up Relationships" to which all the women in the audience would laugh. Upon the decision to write the book, with reflection Dr. McNally writes: it takes two to make a relationship work or not work. If I ignored this fundamental truth , I’d simply end up writing a book on how men and women blame each other when things go wrong. So I added the rest of the title: "and how women help them!"

Another excellent read! Unbelievable that people actually live like that. This is the story of a woman that was born into and lived for 35 years in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) one of the most secretive religious groups in the United States.

As always this novel is exceptional reading. The combination of historical fact, harsh reality of living in the times and the power of love make this a must have book. Bryce Courtenay's novels are collectibles that should remain in your book shelves for generations to read.

What an excellent book! Well written—you can feel yourself there in person. The book is set in New Zealand, making names and places familiar territory to the New Zealand reader. Laurence Fearnley invites you in and makes you feel part of the book; you sense the challenges, the hurts. The title of the book, Edwin and Matilda - An Unlikely Love Story, refers in part to the main characters' age difference. You feel an affinity with the characters—it could easily have been you at some time! It is an easy read—hard to put down.
