Flowers on the bedside table. Breakfast in bed with lukewarm tea that has over-spilled onto the saucer brought lovingly in by your young child. A chance not to have to cook that day. A hand painted card with stick figured characters and love hearts in-between. Lunch or dinner with the family. Scorched almonds to totally devour yourself. ..... A very selective view of what Mother’s Day can be like for some. So how does Mother’s Day look and feel like for many women out there?

Superwoman goes about proving herself, and she constantly tackles the “have, do and be good-enoughness” syndrome. Her internal condition is “self empoverishment” and “insignificance” – even though she may feel on the outside that she has what others don’t. A super woman however goes about approving of herself and calmly knows her “greatness”. Her internal “condition is “self empowerment” and “magnificence.” Her external condition glows, and she inspires others.

I overheard a woman the other day saying, “Hey thank God I am pregnant finally. Now I won’t have to have sex with my husband for a while.” Many women clients of mine also say, “Sex is the last thing they feel like at the end of the day after juggling this, that and the next thing.” Understandable, yes―having raised six kids and juggled the wife, mother, business owner and lover roles myself! Others of us love to curl up with a good girlie ‘flick’ with some good old fashioned romance―but when it comes to actually allowing such romance to occur in our own lives, we withdraw, make excuses or find reasons not to enjoy intimacy to the degree we actually desire.

The crest and trough of the wave, the high and low tide and the waxing and waning of the moon are all natural cycles that are reflected in the two different phases of our menstrual cycle.

It’s a matter of perspective - Whilst recently walking along a beach front promenade with my cycling sons, I overheard a father (whilst out strolling with his young child in the pram) saying, “Hey this gets me away from the office. It’s great!” The woman, probably his better half, replied, “Yeah I’d love to get out of my daily grind as well!” Both were seeking balance in their daily roles and responsibilities. The difference was, the man was removed from the people and environment that was part of his daily working life. She however was not removed from anything much different at all from her usual daily routine.
