Colour Confidence

When we die we will be remembered for WHO WE WERE not WHAT WE WORE. Having stated that, we would be naïve to pretend that we live in a world where appearances don’t matter, that we don’t care what people think or that we don’t honestly judge others by the way they present themselves.
We are after all human beings with all our failings and natural inclinations.
Is outer image important to a woman?? Of course it is. If we feel good on the outside it has a direct impact on how we feel on the inside! It’s also your outer appearance that creates the first impression.

Blue is one of the primary colours and perceived as a constant in our lives. We speak about ‘blueprints’ and ‘out of the blue’. This colour is strongly associated with sky and water and is quite dominant in our lives, especially here in New Zealand where we are surrounded by the ocean and often see the blue sky. The colour blue is all to do with reliability, trust and dependability. The blue colour of the sky is protecting us from harmful cosmic rays and the blue colour of the ocean has a calming effect on our emotions and reminds us to go with the flow of life.

Colour is powerful and evokes strong emotions in us. Colours cause a response in us and others. Colours to a certain degree will affect everyone in the same way, but will differ from person to person depending on their likes dislikes and associations to life experiences. Who likes the colour of their old school uniform? I do! As luckily it is one of my most flattering shades (lucky me).
Colour is magical and can lift our mood from one of melancholy to exuberance with the sight of a beautiful field of yellow daffodils.

How often have you stood in front of your wardrobe looking through it feeling less than enthusiastic thinking “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR” although the racks are probably bulging with more items than they can comfortably hold! You feel you have nothing to put on, the truth is probably closer to you don’t feel excited about anything you have in your wardrobe, and your feeling as though it would just take that one exciting garment ( that you don’t have) that would transform you and give you the boost you so feel you need.
As an image consultant time and time again I have visited my client’s wardrobes and helped them to see the many gems that they DO have hanging in their wardrobes, so often there is so much clutter and disorganization that the obvious choices of what will work well together and the fun combinations you could be enjoying are missed! So you reach for the same thing again and again, probably black!

I simply hate shopping for swim suits. You can gaurantee the year the bottom falls out of mine – there are no swim suits to suit me in the retail stores. Being a size 18 is an extra challenge. Manufacturers seem to think size 18 means big breasted and design their swim suits accordingly. Does it never occur to them that some of us are curvacious all the way down??
