To be a ‘victor’ in the achievement of our dreams we need to take ownership of them. Be accountable for our results and take responsibility for ensuring what we want to happen, happens. When this is the case we are living above the line. When we blame circumstances on our not achieving our goals, find reasons and excuses for our poor habits, we are living below the line and, according to this model, are the victims. Quite emotive, I know; however, I think it makes a good point.

Women are complex beings with a vast array of emotions. They are intuitive, empathetic, and are able to make strong connections and nurture others. On the flip side, women are more prone to worry, stress and depression; and experience more conflict than men. This vault of emotional power can also make them vulnerable to becoming slaves to their emotions.

Decisions shape our lives. A decision is simply making a choice. The more decisions―the greater the choice! We become who we are and we live like we do as a direct result of our choices. Ouch! That probably hurt if you don’t like your life, or you hate making decisions.

Superwoman goes about proving herself, and she constantly tackles the “have, do and be good-enoughness” syndrome. Her internal condition is “self empoverishment” and “insignificance” – even though she may feel on the outside that she has what others don’t. A super woman however goes about approving of herself and calmly knows her “greatness”. Her internal “condition is “self empowerment” and “magnificence.” Her external condition glows, and she inspires others.

The story goes that Michelangelo was asked what he was doing as he sculpted his masterpiece, David. He said, “There is a beautiful man inside of this rock and I am simply removing what is not him.” Purpose allows us to see what is getting in the way of what we want and where we are going.

I overheard a woman the other day saying, “Hey thank God I am pregnant finally. Now I won’t have to have sex with my husband for a while.” Many women clients of mine also say, “Sex is the last thing they feel like at the end of the day after juggling this, that and the next thing.” Understandable, yes―having raised six kids and juggled the wife, mother, business owner and lover roles myself! Others of us love to curl up with a good girlie ‘flick’ with some good old fashioned romance―but when it comes to actually allowing such romance to occur in our own lives, we withdraw, make excuses or find reasons not to enjoy intimacy to the degree we actually desire.

TIP – 2: The beauty of your imagination
Some fabulous famous clever person quoted the following:
“How can we trust our eyes to see if our imagination lacks clarity?”
I did a double take when I first read it, to get clear on what the message was. And now I love it. For us to see clearly, to focus clearly, and to act clearly and constructively, we must first imagine with clarity. What a lovely exercise!
The power of our mind is phenomenal. My inspiration for you over these next two weeks is to visualise. Visualise what you want out of 2009 and all that has happened in your year and where you are at.
Really dream here.
Allow your mind to create a beautiful picture of your life as you have achieved it, by this time next year.
Imagine your home as you have created it, your career as you are experiencing it, the projects you have completed, the holidays you have taken, the money you are earning, the people who are in your life… Imagine your complete lifestyle. Even better, when you have a clear picture in your mind that you can call upon at any moment – write it down.
I can say with confidence that the feeling of optimism and anticipation you feel when you do this exercise is quite exciting. It truly compels you to begin the process of making it happen.
Start 2009 with your imagination as your number one success tool – and enjoy dreaming…

Congruent = matching, fitting, similar, harmonious, corresponding; identical in shape and size
Congruency for me means that who I am being in all areas of my life corresponds with who I say I am. That may sound a little odd, but here’s what I mean. My business name is Gioia, which is Italian for Joy. So that is who I am, both when I am with my clients, and in my life. I bring joy to others and I certainly receive it in abundance. I experience it every day, whether in the form of delighting in nature, or receiving a hug from someone special. And what is the word my clients most use, or write in their testimonials to me―yes, it’s “joy”!
